EUA Carbon Trading
Intercapital Invest offers Exchange Trading of CO2 Carbon Credits issued under the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS). Trading takes place on the Romanian Sibex Derivatives Exchange (also known as Sibiu Monetary Financial and Commodities Exchange or BMFMS) with futures contracts based on EUA Carbon Credits. A futures contract traded on Sibex is the equivalent of 100 tons of Carbon Dioxide; delivery of cash and of EUA credits takes place in T+1 (the next working day).

The European Union Emission Trading System is one of the most advanced trading systems of greenhouse gas emissions, being a major pillar of EU climate policy. Under the EU ETS, the governments of EU Member States agree on national emission caps which have to be approved by the EU commission, allocate allowances to their industrial operators, track and validate the actual emissions against the relevant assigned amount, and require the allowances to be retired after the end of each year. The operators within the ETS may reassign or trade their allowances, either over-the-counter through specialized brokers, or on an exchange.
In Romania, The National Environmental Protection Agency allocates allowances under The National Allocation Plan, while The National Registry of Greenhouse Gas Emissions maintains the national EUA Registry.
